We are happy to announce that artist Leonardo Vargas will start our residency program in March.
For Kinderdijk project, Leonardo proposes to develop a short-term project that establishes a dialogue between the space itself as a part of the world cultural heritage and Painting’s tradition. The surrounding space –as he sees it personally – is connected to the same kind of solemnity that History of painting tries to establish, in terms of it being a historically charged system and an activity coming from a long and important tradition that imposes some kind of silent distance within the experience in which the beholder is involved. But at the same time that idea of a solemn and historically charged thing gets questioned by the way we usually experience images now; and also, a lot to be explored in between…
